Project

An emergency call was made by the Missouri Department of Transportation to EnTech Engineering for immediate investigation services on 2 interstate lanes after a partial collapse of a 10ft² section of asphalt covered concrete pavement completely fell through the deck and onto the roadway under the bridge.

Our Technology

EnTech started its pavement investigation at approximately 10:00pm and completed approximately 800 meters of roadway by 11:00pm. Traffic was kept moving by routing it around our moving data collection vehicle. While using our patented stacked technology, it was determined in real time that almost the entire area investigated contained areas where the cement binder had leached out of the pavement leaving only loose sand and aggregate trapped between thin layers of solid concrete on both the top and bottom of the pavement.

The Personalized Solution

The pavement lanes were immediately closed to traffic. The next day it was decided to order and install 2.5 million worth of steel plates to reinforce the lanes.

*Three days later, while the lanes still remained closed to traffic, an area of approximately 150ft² of pavement collapsed onto the roadway below the overhead lanes. This event and additional corings confirmed the results of the combined IR and GPMR investigation.
