Subsurface Environmental Assessment

EnTech provides subsurface diagnostics that offer a dynamic view of underground infrastructure. Stacking our technologies creates a comprehensive system that supplies our clients with timely and accurate information enabling them to make informed decisions.

Subsurface environmental assessment begins with an Infrared Energy Pattern Analysis (IR-EPA) investigation. Our IR-EPA systems detect specific energy patterns created by underground leaks caused by pipelines, underground storage tanks (USTs) and natural water springs and pavement pumping action caused by poorly compacted pavement support soils.

The IR-EPA investigation can be complimented using Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) for large aerial surveys. Sub-meter GPS accuracy ensures field crews can easily locate anomalous areas. We can investigate the entire system using this method without disrupting workflow and cut costs because we can target the areas that need further investigation.

Each investigation can be additionally explored by utilizing Second Generation Ground Penetrating Microwave Radar (GPR). GPR provides 3-D views of specific areas that require more detail than IR-EPA can offer. Additional information such as composition, depth and size of underground anomalies, can help clients remediate any subsurface environmental hazards.

Project

A large service station in the Midwest called EnTech for assistance when local soils tested high for subsurface hydrocarbons. The objective was to locate and map the subsurface hydrocarbon free-phase plume without interrupting workflow.

Our Technology

Our Professional engineers used Infrared Energy Pattern Analysis (IR-EPA) sensing equipment to identify the hydrocarbon free-phase plume, and Second Generation Ground Penetrating Microwave Radar (GPR) to provide 3-D analysis including depth and density of the anomalies. By blending these technologies with expert analysis, we produced an all-inclusive report that enabled our client to quickly find and remediate the areas.

The Personalized Solution

Our comprehensive and useful reports were produced in a timely manner, and presented in a format to enable our client to prioritize and schedule repairs and avoid costly emergency shut downs.

Our licensed Professional Engineers can help you evaluate, maintain and monitor critical subsurface areas.
