Underground Storage Tank (UST) Location

EnTech provides subsurface diagnostics that offer a dynamic view of underground infrastructure. Our stacking technologies create a comprehensive system that supplies our clients with timely and accurate information enabling them to make informed decisions.

UST location begins with an Infrared Energy Pattern Analysis (IR-EPA) investigation of the identified areas. Our IR-EPA systems detect specific energy patterns created by USTs, UST leaks and hazardous leaks.

The IR-EPA investigation can be complimented with Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) for large aerial surveys. Sub-meter GPS accuracy ensures that field crews can easily locate suspicious areas. Large areas can be investigated using this method in a short amount of time (collecting 100 miles of data a day) and cut costs by enabling us to target areas that need to be further investigated.

Any investigation can be additionally explored by utilizing Second Generation Ground Penetrating Microwave Radar (GPR). GPR provides 3-D views of specific areas that require more detail than IR-EPA can provide. Additional information, such as composition, depth and size of underground entities, can help our clients better understand the circumstances.

THE PROJECT
An expansion program was underway at a large Midwest refinery and several 100+ year old roads were to be used to transport large equipment (weighing 500 tons) to complete the project. EnTech was hired to check for voids and anomalies beneath the roadway to help assure safety throughout the process.

OUR TECHNOLOGY
EnTech's licensed Professional Engineers used EnSITE IV technology to investigate the roadways, incorporating Infrared Energy Pattern (IR-EPA) recognition and Second Generation Ground Penetrating Microwave Radar (GPR) to locate underground anomalies. Our patented, stacked technology allowed us to provide a precise, detailed analysis of 15 anomalous locations.

THE PERSONALIZED SOLUTION
Exploratory excavation at each identified anomaly was performed by the client. At each targeted location various USTs, underground pipes, lumber and or structures were found. The structures were either removed or determined by visual inspection to be safe to do a fill over.
